Men’s Fashion Basics – Part 4 – Jeans

So, I’ll admit this article has been scaring me for awhile. Not because I have some sort of denim-based phobia but because guys jeans are a VERY personal preference. Everybody has their favourite style, detailing and fit, and more than that, there is such a huge variety out there that the thought of me having to compact it all down into about 600 words had me running for cover. But I persevered nonetheless… Jeans are a MUST. They can be used to dress down or dress up just about any outfit. They’re versatile and when done correctly, you should...

Men’s Fashion Basics – Part 3 – Long Sleeved T-Shirts

Following on from our last article on T-shirts and how they are basic items for any man’s wardrobe, I thought I’d expand on the topic a little more and broaden our horizons into the world of long-sleeved T-shirts. Now there are quite a lot of them about on the high street at the moment with the coming of autumn/winter, making them perfect for layering as a base for your outfit. Men’s Fashion Basics – Part 2 – T-Shirts

With last week’s article on fit out of the way, it’s time to get stuck into the basic clothing that every guy needs. I decided that tee’s would be a good place to start because they are something we should all be familiar with and should be a staple in your wardrobe. But before we get ahead of ourselves, let me just clarify that I’m talking about a T-shirt here, NOT an undershirt. An undershirt does exactly what is says on the tin (and the loungewear article yesterday touched on this), it belongs under your shirt so that it can absorb all the sweat and manly smells you excrete throughout the day. This is never to be worn without a shirt, ever. What I am talking about are the basic cotton T-shirts that can be found in any good clothing store all around the country, that come in an array of colours and different stylings. The reason I think T-shirts are so great is because they’re a piece of clothing that we should all be comfortable with, but when done correctly can give you a really classic look to your outfit. This means that you can feel totally confident in what you’re wearing, whilst keeping your outfit as simple or as layered as you want. Basic T-Shirts Here’s a quick rundown of the types of T-shirts available to you:...

Men’s Fashion Basics – Part 1 – Good Fit

With men’s fashion beginning to become just as important, relevant and lucrative as women’s fashion has been for the past 50 years, it’s easy for a lot of us to get left behind or simply just not know where to start. It’s also easy to want to stick with what you know or simply buy whatever is on trend right now and hope for the best. However that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s the right way to go about things. More often than not, men keep bad habits they have picked up and continue to apply them to every new purchase they make… But this is where I come in! If you’re a true fashion newbieor even an already budding sartorialist I’ll break down where to start when it comes to the world of men’s fashion and how to build a diverse wardrobe for any occasion without making the mistakes that so many of us often do. It’s All About The Fit But before we start talking about clothes lets cover something that most guys either do really well or really badly; the way clothes fit them. Whether it’s your suit, your tees, your shirts or even your jeans, the way they fit on you is the difference between looking like you stole your clothes from the shop or looking like you actually know what you’re doing. We all know...
