Suits are a classic staple in every man’s wardrobe, they have the ability to take your look, and wardrobe as a whole to the next level with a few simple tweaks. But, we’re here to talk about the suit itself and what suits would best suit you, and your life.
There are an array of suits out there for you to choose from, so it’s a little easy to get sidetracked when you’re searching for a new suit. Many would suggest that you stick to the classic black, grey or navy suit, as these will see you through an array of situations and occasion, and they’re right, but you can experiment with a bit of colour, pattern and material here and there.
The classic black suit will be one of the best investments that you’ll ever make in your life, it has the ability to take you from day to night with ease, and, it’s a seasonless piece, meaning you can wear one no matter the time of year or weather.
Go for a slim cut suit as this will work better for your body shape. Although black is already a slimming colour, you can easily get away with wearing a slimmer cut suit. The black suit doesn’t have to be boring either, you can liven up your black suit with a few simple accessories such as a pocket square or patterned tie for a great shirt and tie combination
The great thing about a grey suit is that there are so many different shade variations within the same shade. So, you can go for a lighter shade of grey, an almost white colour, or you can go for something a little bit darker to an almost black colour.
Much like the black suit, the grey suit is a classic staple that any man can wear, depending on the shade of grey you go for, it can work well for the office, or a more formal function. Teamed with a light blue or white shirt and a pair or dark brown shoes and you’re good to go.
Much like grey, navy is another great, classic suit to own, its shade variations from light blue to a darker shade, an almost black. Navy is a great colour suit to wear in the summertime as it makes a nice change from the bog standard black suit.
Navy suits most people, so you’ll be good to go with a navy suit. Teamed with a pink or contrasting blue shirt and a pair of brown shoes and you’ve got yourself a cracking navy suit outfit that will take you from day to night. Or, if you really want to have a different look, then team your navy suit with a plain white T-shirt and a pair of trainers for a bang on trend business casual look.
Colour and Patterned Suit
Coloured and patterned suits are something that most men are, probably, not as confident to tackle, but, I’m here to tell you that you can pull one off in style no matter what the season. The trick is to not go too overboard with the colour and pattern, as this will make you look a little bit comical and that’s not what we want.
If you want to tackle a bit of colour, then go for a subtle, downplayed colour that you can wear both during the day and transition it to the night. Go for a light pink, or maybe even a light green colour to get yourself going in the coloured suit trend, but keep the rest of your outfit subtle, as you don’t want to throw your look off as a whole.
Pattern is the same as colour, you don’t want to go too overboard with it as you can come across looking like a circu clown. But if you stick to classic patterns like pinstripe or check then you can have a bang on trend look this season. Again, you’ll want to keep the rest of your outfit simple and let your suit do the talking, so pair it with a simple shirt and shoes for a patterned suit look.
